The basis of the « Brevet National de Propriétaire de Chien BPC » is still the old ordinance obligating dog owners to follow the courses still today prescribed at the federal level.

1. The aim of the course is to make the future owners of a dog aware of the modalities of responsible ownership in accordance with the laws for animal and environmental protection.
2. The aim of the course is to make sure that the people responsible for the dog know how to train it according to the law , that they understand the more important expressions of the animal and they handle it accordingly.

With the new certification, common to all of Switzerland, the participating organizations have several points:

• Dog owners must be aware of their responsibilities. The general populace must perceive the investment made in the dog’s training.
• Because the certification is valid throughout Switzerland, the cantons that require dog owner training will more readily accept it.
• With an attractive course concept, a maximum number of owners will be motivated to follow them.
• The theme « Learning with the dog » is central to the concept with the objective that the owner and the dog reach their goals together with pleasure and without constraints.

The training gives you:

• Practical capacities allowing you to have control over your dog in all daily circumstances.
• Knowledge or animal rights and the right methods for training dogs, recognizing physical signs of threat, attack, insecurity or submission, as well as, in the case of behavioral problems, the necessity of consulting with specialists.
